The Fire module of the Protector allows you to determine if delivering fire flows is possible during a breakdown or isolation event.
00:13
In this example you assess a fire event in the network after removing affected facilities previously identified,
00:21
with the assumption that the area identified is taken off-line.
00:26
To begin, double-click the desired project .aprx file to open ArcGIS Pro.
00:35
Once the project starts, click the InfoWater Pro tab to open the InfoWater Pro ribbon.
00:42
In the Project panel, click Initialize.
00:46
Start by running a simulation for the current scenario.
00:50
On the InfoWater Pro ribbon, in the Analysis panel, click Run to open the Run Manager.
00:58
Click Run to run the simulation and create an output for the current scenario.
01:04
Close the Run Manager.
01:07
You can now access the Protector.
01:10
On the InfoWater Pro ribbon, in the Project panel, click Apps.
01:16
From the Apps Manager, select Protector, and then click Run to open the Protector app.
01:23
Switch to the Fire tab.
01:26
In this case, a contamination event has been identified, and the affected facilities have been isolated.
01:33
You can now determine if there is sufficient fire flow to serve the network, based on the remaining facilities.
01:41
In the Facility Management drop-down, select the AFFECTED_FACILITIES selection set.
01:48
Under Fire Nodes, make sure that All is selected.
01:53
Set the following criteria for Fire analysis:
01:58
Set the Fire-Flow Demand to 1000.
02:02
Set the Residual Pressure to 20.
02:05
Set the Accuracy to 0.0001.
02:11
Set the Maximum Iteration to 20.
02:16
Set the Critical Node Searching Range to Entire Network.
02:21
Click Run to run the Fire analysis and open the Fire-Flow Report dialog.
02:27
Select the Available Flow (gpm) column header.
02:32
Then, right-click and select Sort Ascending to see the junctions with low fire flows during fire flow events.
02:40
Close the Fire-Flow Report.
02:43
Back on the Fire tab, click Reset Facility to reset the affected facilities.
02:50
Click Close to exit the Protector.
