And this is the home studio project that we've been working on for a while
00:07
and we're ready to issue the model to other consultants and also to the client.
00:11
But before we do this,
00:12
it's always a good idea to check that everything is
00:14
in order as it's easy to miss small things,
00:17
especially when we're changing objects in the model
00:19
which may affect their position or location or size.
00:23
And a good tool to use for this is the interference check in.
00:26
So from the collaborate ribbon tab on the coordinate panel,
00:29
we can choose the interference check
00:31
and then to run an interference check.
00:34
And now looking at the settings, we can see we have two lists of categories
00:38
and they're both from the current project
00:40
rather than just check all of the categories on both sides
00:43
as that may lead to a very long list of interferences.
00:46
If there are any issues, we'll be more selective.
00:49
And I know that I've changed the wall types
00:51
to be slightly thicker in this project recently.
00:54
So I choose the walls and I'll check those against the stairs,
00:57
the railings and also the furniture.
00:60
So I'll select OK.
01:03
And I can see that we have some interference between the
01:05
railings and the stairs and also one piece of furniture.
01:08
So we'll start with the furniture and we'll select show
01:11
unless we only have the 3d view open at the moment, that doesn't show us very much.
01:15
So we'll choose to show once more.
01:17
And now it's just going to let us know that it needs to
01:19
look through the project browser and open up views that are closed.
01:22
So we'll say OK to continue.
01:24
And it's highlighted a clash between the bed and the wall just here
01:28
and expanding that out, we can see those two objects highlighted in,
01:32
in the interference.
01:34
So I'll check the rains
01:36
and we can see that that's highlighted here. But we'll choose show
01:40
and show once more
01:41
until we get to the right view
01:44
on the first floor plan. I can see that it's this wall here.
01:47
It's also clashing with the railings.
01:48
And as I've zoomed in, I can see also this wall too
01:52
and then selecting the last one here, I'll choose show once more.
01:57
We can see that that's also clashing on the second floor as well.
02:02
So I think the issue here is that we've recently changed the thickness of the walls
02:05
and without realizing that's just created a small clash between the railings and
02:09
the stairs and also the bed on this side of the wall.
02:12
So we need to decide how to resolve this,
02:15
whether we need to modify the railings or move the position of the wall to suit.
02:19
And in this instance, we'll move the walls and the bed to try and resolve this.
02:23
So I'll close this down
02:25
and from the second floor residence view, I'll choose the wall
02:30
and then move this across by a couple of inches
02:33
so that we clear the railings on this side.
02:36
And then actually, I'll change the layout of the bed completely.
02:38
So I'll spin this round using the space bar
02:41
and we'll move it against this wall, which will be a better layout for us.
02:45
Going down to the first floor,
02:47
we can see that we need to move these walls too.
02:49
So we'll select it and again, just move it across by a couple of inches
02:53
and this one too.
02:57
And that should clear those interferences.
02:59
But to check, we'll go back to the collaborate ribbon tab
03:02
and then from the coordinate panel under the
03:04
interference check which is show last report.
03:07
And this now lists out the interferences that we found last time.
03:11
And at the bottom of the view here, we can choose to refresh this report
03:15
and it will rerun this
03:17
and those interferences have now disappeared as
03:19
we've resolved those by moving the walls.
03:21
So I choose close.
03:23
And we also have a structural model that we can link into this project.
03:26
And to do this, we'll go to the insert ribbon tab.
03:29
And from the link panel, we choose to link rev it.
03:33
And I choose the home studio structure project here
03:36
and we'll position this auto by shared coordinates
03:39
as we set those coordinates up with the structure engineer.
03:42
And when we choose open,
03:44
we know that this will place it in the correct location.
03:47
So zoom in out,
03:48
I can now see the grid from the structural model
03:50
and also the columns
03:52
and I'll come and look at the living room south interior elevation
03:56
and we can see the structure in the view here as well.
03:58
Seeing the truss supporting the roof
04:01
zooming in, you can also see we have some structure that sits within our roof.
04:05
And this is acceptable
04:07
as this is a combined zone where we need to show finishes and insulation, et cetera.
04:12
But there's also going to be structure supporting the roof in there too.
04:17
So we'll run an interference check as we've just brought this in and this can
04:20
help us coordinate it and make sure there
04:22
aren't any interferences that shouldn't be there.
04:25
So we'll go back to the collaborate ribbon tab
04:28
and once again from the coordinate panel under interference check,
04:31
we'll choose to run interference check.
04:33
And this time I went to check the curtain wall in.
04:36
So I choose the curtain panels and the curtain wall
04:38
malls
04:39
and we'll check this against the home studio structure project
04:44
and we'll check it against the columns within that project
04:47
to choose. OK. To run the report,
04:51
we can see that there's quite a few interferences here
04:53
and expanding some of these out,
04:56
we can see this interference between the structural column
04:59
and a quad
05:00
Callum
05:01
mallon here. So we choose this interference and choose to show
05:04
and then we can choose to show again to cycle through the views we have open
05:08
until we see the mullion and the column highlighted.
05:11
And as we zoom into the 3D view here, we can see it's this corneal
05:15
and this column when
05:16
we create malls in rev it,
05:17
they get split by each of the grid lines within the curtain wall.
05:21
And hence, this vertical corner mallon is made up of many pieces.
05:25
And that's why we're seeing so many interferences within our report here.
05:30
So we need to resolve this. So we'll close down the interference report
05:34
and I'll go back to the first floor plan
05:37
and zooming into the corner.
05:40
We can now see clearly where the column is overlapping our Mallia.
05:43
And we need to decide how to resolve this.
05:45
We can choose to ask the structure engineer to
05:48
move their column slightly or maybe resize it.
05:50
So it's a little bit smaller. If that's possible,
05:53
we could choose to move the curtain wall to take account for the column
05:57
or equally, we could place a slightly smaller mullion on the corner here
06:01
which seems like the best option to resolve this issue.
06:05
So to do this, I'll slap the curtain wall
06:08
and then from the properties pallette, we'll choose to edit type.
06:12
And here we can see we have the quad corner
06:14
mullion specified in the type of curtain wall.
06:16
So we'll change this from the seven by seven inch to the five by five inch.
06:22
And now when we choose, OK, that mullion will be applied to our curtain wall type.
06:27
And we can see that's now updated
06:28
and it looks to have cleared the interference with the column
06:32
to make sure we'll go back to the collaborate ribbon tab
06:34
and under the coordinate panel on the interference check,
06:37
we'll choose to show the last report again.
06:40
And once again, we'll choose to refresh.
06:42
We can see all of those interferences have now disappeared
06:45
and we can be sure now that our structural model is not interfering with our
06:49
walling at any point.
