Henco Industries Grows with Autodesk PLM

Henco Industries Grows with Autodesk PLM

Customer challenge

The real growth spurt came after the acquisition in 2008 by the listed conglomerate Aalberts Industries. The extra capital and the large worldwide network of Aalberts opened the doors for Henco Industries internationally. "That's right", says Jill Gielis, "Since 2008 we have grown significantly every year. But that also has a downside. Each department had its own system and culture. Everyone did their very best, but in their own way. There was little cohesion." As a result, mutual communication left much to be desired; various Excel files, different versions of projects, circulated. More and more meetings and consultations were needed, production was delayed.

Project goals

It became increasingly evident that the team was ready for one system in which those departments work together in order to make it possible to control business growth.

Solution

The management invited several automation companies to provide a solution. Ultimately, Autodesk Solution Provider Cadac was commissioned to roll out Autodesk's product lifecycle management (PLM) system, Fusion 360 Manage. Cadac acts as a partner in these kinds of large projects. We build a complete business case in which we show the benefits of the switch to PLM. To do this, we first conduct in-depth discussions with management, because a first requirement is support from the management.

Business outcome

We want to know what the ambitions are, which goals have to be achieved and what the commitment is. We then conducted a survey among 45 employees to get all bottlenecks and wishes on the table. Everyone gets the chance to identify pain points, provide ideas and participate in the discussion. Logically, they will be working with it soon. Making changes requires explanation and patience. It's pure change management, don't rush it. We then wrote and presented a proposal with all the information.

Conclusion

Communication is much faster, because everyone can watch and indicate any bottlenecks. Planning the complete process becomes transparent and easier this way. Previous experiences with Autodesk Fusion 360 Manage's PLM indicate a time saving of at least fifteen percent and a cost reduction of at least ten percent. Precious time and resources that can be used for innovation.

World Leader of Automatic Bus Door Systems

Public transport is growing and governments are investing heavily in electric and clean buses, so orders for door systems are 'raining'. “And not just here in Bolsward,” says Kevin Visser. “Our sales offices in Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, the United Kingdom and Germany are also doing very well. And not to forget in the US where we have a second production location.” Totally fine of course, but Ventura Systems is reaching its limits. “It is all becoming very complex,” says director and co-owner Jan Lont. “We supply to large and small bus manufacturers in Europe, Asia and America. Manufacturers constantly innovate and want to bring new bus types to the market. In addition, older types are also produced and a door of the same type and version sometimes has to be replaced. This means that we now manage an extremely broad product range. We have more than 1,600 different types of glass plates in our database alone."
