Increased Efficiency in Engineering and Design

Customer challenge

KAMCO, a manufacturing company for agricultural machinery, sought to find an optimal solution for their customers' needs. They have collaborated closely with farmers and recognized their areas of difficulties - a cono-weeder machine. KAMCO then found that they needed to look for a one point solution to overcome their critical design requirements for this cono-weeder machine which requires solid modeling, sheet metal as well as standard frames.

Project goals

KAMCO needed a self-starting module for their tiller to save time and human effort in order to develop the cono-weeder machine to help farmers with a quicker weeding in wetland. So they have reached out to us.

Solution

After studying the basic functions of the cono-weeder, we made a list of parts and components required. The weeder was going to work in a push/pull motion which uproots and buries weeds into the soil. By implementing Autodesk Inventor® CAD software , we were able to generate both 2D and 3D sketches for all the parts using specialized tools for sheet metal and frame design in order to help KAMCO with time enhanced production and minimum loss of materials.

Business outcome

Having migrated to Autodesk Inventor® CAD software in the drawing field, KAMCO has found tremendous success in generating 3D designs of parts required for production and thereby saved time for dimension check and fitment analysis. In particular, KAMCO has noted that the special feature of direct modeling in Inventor® CAD software has allowed them to design parts for push/pull controls and to move, rotate, resize or scale features from previous geometries.

Conclusion

"The entire USAM team is filled with experts who continued to exceed our expectations at every turn. They have provided all the features required for designing suits especially on mechanical concept and layout design and have always had the optimal solutions to our business needs right at their fingertips. We couldn't have asked for a better team to work with in this transition and look forward to collaborting with them for years to come."  - KAMCO

DBMV’s– Plant 3D Piping Traceability

DBMV was originally engaged on the project to assist in the design by producing traceable pipe isometrics to aid with the fabrication and installation of pipe spools on site. During this process, the client wanted to track all materials, joints, welds, and spools through the procurement, fabrication, NDT (Nondestructive Testing), and on-site installation process to minimize disruption to production and supply chain. This required DBMV to track every single item with unique identification.
