Designing a Civilization on Mars—An AU 2018 Lunch & Learn

After multiple lander missions to Mars, the evidence is clear: there’s little or no chance of native life there. But the more we learn about the planet, the more possible it becomes to build a habitable environment there for humans. What will it look like? How will it function? And what will the experience be like for residents?

That’s what HP set out to discover through their Mars Home Planet program, powered by NVIDIA. Sean Young of HP and Allen Bourgoyne of NVIDIA will be leading a lunch & learn in the Theater at AU to share what they’ve achieved and how they’ve made it happen.

Join us at AU for Our Journey to Mars | Lunch & Learn with HP and NVIDIA on Wednesday, November 14, 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m.

Sean Young, head of industry segments for HP, takes the stage first. He’ll be talking about how a team of graphics technology companies and NASA scientists enlisted the help of 90,000 participants to design and visualize what a civilization on Mars might look like using Autodesk products, then bring it to life in virtual reality.

Allen Bourgoyne of NVIDIA steps up next to share how technologies such as deep learning, simulation, rendering, and virtual production are propelling the future of storytelling, helping us reinvent how content is created, delivered, and consumed.

These advances in immersive design could eventually yield a functional outpost on the red planet. Until then, they’re helping us find new and better ways to imagine, design, and make. Come see what’s possible and get lunch while you’re at it.
