Description
Key Learnings
- Learn why circular economy principles are becoming a key consideration in commercial building projects and how 3XN/GXN applied these principles in their QQT project, which was awarded World Building of the Year in 2022.
- Understand the close relationship between design processes, staff skills and digital tools, and how 3XN developed a suite of methods to create a more seamless workflow across phases, reducing reliance on specialized software expertise and skill silos.
- Explore concepts for achieving effective interoperability between Revit, Grasshopper, Rhino, BEAM, and other tools, enhancing overall project efficiency.
Speaker
- SSSam SweeneySam Sweeney is the Head of BIM and Digital Delivery at 3XN/GXN, based in Copenhagen. He began his career as a design architect, working from the concept phase to overseeing award-winning projects on construction sites. Sam has always been keenly interested in how digital tools—such as computation, coding, and now AI—can enhance the design process. When he joined 3XN in Copenhagen, he focused on bridging the gap between design and construction by combining traditional design methods with digital tools. This experience led him to oversee BIM across 3XN's global offices, ensuring its integration into a design-focused environment. Sam believes that design should always remain at the core of using digital tools in architecture.
