His journey began with a passion for Building Information Modeling (BIM), and he has become a recognized expert in the field. Terje's impact extends beyond digital workflows. He has significantly contributed to major infrastructure projects across Norway, leveraging his robust background in BIM-based project execution. Whether coordinating multidisciplinary teams or streamlining workflows, Terje's commitment to excellence shines through. His versatility is evident in the various BIM roles he has held, collaborating with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds. This cross-disciplinary experience enhances his ability to navigate complex challenges, ensuring seamless communication and efficient project delivery. Currently, Terje serves as a consultant in Norconsult's Bridge Department, specializing in BIM modeling for bridges and digital deliveries. His passion lies in streamlining bridge information modeling workflows, ensuring they align with real-world requirements. - TSThomas ØstgulenThomas Østgulen's journey in the field of bridge design and construction is impressive. With over 10 years of experience in transportation projects of all phases and sizes, Thomas has established himself as a BIM specialist in bridges. He holds a Master of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from NTNU and has taken additional courses in programming and database management, making him a valuable asset in the field. Thomas has been a pioneer in the use of 3D modeling for bridge design, starting with his first 3D modeled bridges in 2010. Since then, he has been involved in several R&D projects, applying his expertise in BIM and digital skills to develop new and innovative solutions. Thomas has been a BIM leader and responsible for the technical model in several large zoning and construction plan projects, including the New Sotra Bridge, a suspension bridge of about 1km, which is delivered in full BIM level 3. In addition to his technical expertise, Thomas has a strong background in programming, with skills in languages such as Python, C#, and SQL. He has used these skills to develop custom tools and scripts to automate and streamline BIM workflows, resulting in increased efficiency and accuracy. Thomas has also been active in buildingSMART Norway's focus groups, participating in 2 publications released in 2021; Digital Reinforcement and BCF use-cases guidance. In recent years, he has been part of a team that has been developing new ways of working within Norconsult, as well as contributing to the development of national standards and best practices. His work has helped to drive innovation and improve efficiency in the field of bridge design and construction. Much of Thomas' journey has been team-based, working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve common goals. Thomas Østgulen's experience in bridges, digital skills, BIM, and management, combined with his passion for innovation and continuous improvement, make him a valuable asset in the field.
