Description
This class will demonstrate a workflow that uses the T-Splines Module in Fusion 360 software to create NURBS like surface patches utilizing sketches as a base start and sub-d modeling and pair the generated boundary representations (BREPs) with solid modeling tools inside the parametric timeline environment. The class will focus on best practice and proper T-Spline patch topology to maximize resulting BREP quality for further modeling steps inside the parametric timeline. This session features Fusion 360.
Key Learnings
- Learn how to create T-Splines surfaces via sketches and primitives
- Learn about sculpting T-Spline surfaces and maintaining proper topology layouts
- Learn how to use T-Splines with solid modeling tools in the parametric timeline
- Understand best practices and parametric surfacing strategies
Speakers
- CKclaas kuhnenClaas Eicke Kuhnen received his degree in advanced color concepts for graphic and product design from the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Hildesheim in Germany. In 2006, he completed an MFA from Bowling Green State University in 3D studio art for metals and jewelry, with a focus on functional design and digital arts. For the last 8 years, his work has focused on industrial design. His interdisciplinary skills built from a diverse background have proved to be a great asset along the way. His design firm, studioKuhnenC, serves clients such as Leland International and 2B Studio. His work has enabled them to expand their furniture design concepts, explore novel ideas, test production capabilities, and produce exceptional pieces for exhibitions. His work and techniques have been presented at exhibitions such as the Sculpture Objects Functional Art and Design Fair, Society of North American Goldsmiths, and SIGGRAPH. At Wayne State University, he teaches industrial design with a focus on digital 3D design and fabrication infused by his research in new technologies and modern workflows.
- Colin SmithSr. Product Manager in the Automotive and Conceptual Design Group working on SketchBook, Project Sugarhill and Alias. I've been working at Autodesk since 2006 and have worked on the product teams for Alias and Fusion 360. Prior to working at Autodesk I worked at Alias|Wavefront as a product manager for Studio Tools and SketchBook Pro. I enjoy helping my customers solve their design problems and seeing the awesome vehicles, consumer products, and artwork they create with our tools.
