Now let's talk about editing attributes and blocks.
00:07
There are a couple of methods
00:09
I could double click
00:13
on a block
00:14
which opens up the enhanced attribute editor
00:18
here you can see that I can change the value
00:22
of
00:23
the attribute.
00:25
I can go to text options and change
00:28
textile
00:29
the justification
00:32
and I can go to properties to change the layer,
00:35
the color
00:37
in the enhanced attribute editor.
00:42
This method is a little bit limited though as you can't
00:46
edit things like the mode or some other things that we
00:50
defined with the attributes.
00:54
So to edit more elements of an attribute,
00:57
we can use the block attribute manager by typing in
01:02
Batman B att
01:05
man
01:06
and it opens up the block attribute manager.
01:10
And here you can select
01:12
the block either with a drop down or by selecting it with the block picker.
01:18
And once you have the block selected, you can click edit
01:23
and now notice we have the modes available.
01:27
We have the data for the tag,
01:30
the prompt
01:31
and
01:33
what the default is.
01:34
Maybe we go ahead and change the default
01:39
to
01:40
sales
01:44
and click. OK?
01:49
Now if I go to
01:52
insert that block,
01:55
notice how the default
01:57
has changed.
01:60
And of course, we can change the actual value as we bring the block in.
02:08
So I'll close the
02:10
blocks pallet.
02:12
And next, what I'm going to do is define and add an attribute to an existing block,
02:17
then get all instances of that block to have the
02:21
attribute in it for every instance in the drawing.
02:25
So the block I'm going to use is the phone block.
02:29
I'm going to go ahead and make sure that
02:33
phones is my current layer.
02:36
And what I'm gonna do is double click on the phone block,
02:42
click. OK? So that it comes up in the block editor.
02:48
Now, I can either type in
02:51
attribute definition like I did before or I can right here in the block editor,
02:56
come up to the attribute definition
02:59
button
03:00
going to do the same thing that I did before with the modes.
03:05
For this example,
03:08
for the tag, I'm gonna type in
03:12
ext for extension.
03:16
The prompt will be what is the
03:20
phone
03:21
extension?
03:26
And then the default, I'll just put as 1234,
03:31
I'll go ahead and make this middle like I did with the other one
03:37
and
03:38
we'll make this
03:40
one for the size,
03:42
I'll click. OK?
03:45
And I'll place it. Then I'm gonna do
03:48
the same thing that I did before with the M two P,
03:56
grab an endpoint,
03:60
an end point and now this is
04:04
in the middle,
04:05
then I'm gonna go ahead and close a block editor and be sure to save
04:12
changes to the phone
04:15
now to get all of the phone blocks in the drawing
04:18
to update so that they all have the attribute in them.
04:23
I'm gonna type in att
04:26
sync
04:28
press enter,
04:30
I'm going to use the name option and the name of this block is called
04:34
FN
04:37
phone
04:39
and just like that as soon as I type in the name of the block
04:44
and then press enter
04:46
every instance
04:48
of the phone now comes in
04:51
with that attribute
04:53
and there are a lot of these phones in this current drawing.
04:58
So now all I would have to do
05:00
is
05:02
double click on the block of the phone and the attribute editor shows up
05:07
so I could type in the actual value
05:11
and that gets updated in the block.
05:15
This can be useful information in this example as this drawing and all
05:20
of its information can now be used as a facility management database.
