Run a microclimate analysis in Forma.
Type:
Tutorial
Length:
2 min.
Transcript
00:03
Forma’s microclimate analysis provides a way to evaluate the the perceived temperature on site.
00:10
With a project open, from the right panel, select Microclimate.
00:15
Combining sun, wind, and sky exposure, and numerous localized weather and climate data,
00:22
the analysis creates a comprehensive microclimate map of your site,
00:26
and it computes the perceived temperature.
00:30
In the example, an analysis has been run previously.
00:34
Click View history, and then, from the flyout, select the appropriate analysis you wish to view.
00:42
The panel and canvas update accordingly.
00:46
Expand the Month drop-down to specify a month to review.
00:51
Use the time slider to adjust the time, if necessary.
00:56
For the date and time selected, historical meteorological data is evaluated and displayed as an air temperature graph.
01:05
This histogram illustrates the likelihood for a given temperature based on historically experienced values in the region,
01:13
but it is also possible to select more extreme scenarios up to 20% higher than the recorded maximum.
01:20
Select one of the bars on the graph, and the canvas updates.
01:24
From the Wind section, you can select the incoming wind situation you want to utilize for the computation
01:32
using the interactive wind rose.
01:34
The frequency of occurrence for a given direction is identified by the size of the corresponding segment.
01:41
From the Statistics section, review the weather data.
01:46
This shows updated information about which values are employed for your selected date and time.
01:51
Click Inspect, and then, in the canvas, pick a point.
01:57
A tooltip appears, reporting the perceived temperature that corresponds to the selected coordinates.
02:04
Pick a few more points to review more information.
02:08
Notice in this example, there is a 10-degree difference in perceived temperature between two points located very close to one another.
