Utilizing views in InfraWorks

Apply the default views in InfraWorks and create a custom view.

The Views Menu is used to configure and save a set of visual settings that change the appearance of your model.

Adjusting the view allows you to best showcase your model, or to support a specific workflow.

First, click the name of the active view in the toolbar to display the Views Menu.

The two default views, Conceptual and Engineering,

are preconfigured views that provide different visual representations of the model.

You cannot delete or rename the default views, but you can modify the view settings.

In the Views Menu, click Settings.

The View Settings panel opens.

Select the Visualization Settings tab to customize lighting and rendering options.

For example, you can adjust the brightness, contrast,

or light intensity to enhance the appearance of your model.

You can also change the way objects render in the rendering area.

For example, toggle on and off Realistic trees, and observe the difference in the canvas.

Select the Interaction Settings tab to adjust preferences for displaying tool tips, links, or the status bar.

Here, for example, Edit Mode is set to on by default.

If you toggle this off, the program will change to Select Mode.

This means you will only be able to select objects in the canvas.

Be aware that changes to the view configuration are not tied to a specific model and are used across all models that you open.

To restore the view defaults, navigate to the Views Menu, then click Restore.

Now that you are more familiar with the View Settings panel,

you can create a custom view to share across your models.

To do this, in the Views Menu, click Add.

The View Settings Panel expands to include a space for your custom view.

Click this space and type a name for your custom view.

Then, click Settings to customize your view using the View Settings Panel.

Once it has been created, you can easily rename or remove your custom view
