Perform clash detection with data exchanges in Navisworks.
Type:
Tutorial
Length:
2 min.
Transcript
00:04
A data exchange in the Navisworks Connector represents a subset of your design stored in a neutral format in the cloud.
00:11
With it, you can access relevant geometry and properties of your model,
00:15
either as a whole or at a granular level, to create custom workflows.
00:20
Once you have loaded data exchanges into Navisworks, you can perform clash detections.
00:26
From the ribbon, click Clash Detective.
00:29
The Clash Detective window displays.
00:32
To define a new clash test, click Add Test.
00:36
A new test displays in a table.
00:39
On the Select tab, two selection panes display,
00:42
both with the same data hierarchy as in the Selection Tree.
00:46
In each pane, select the items you want to compare.
00:50
You can select entire Data Exchange models, or expand a model and choose specific levels, categories, or families
00:58
to test against each other.
01:01
Below the selection panes are additional settings, if you wish.
01:05
Once you are ready, click Run Test.
01:08
Once the test has run successfully, the Results tab displays the list of clashes, all of which display a status of New.
01:16
Select a clash to view it in the Scene View.
01:19
Zoom and orbit the model to review the selected clash.
01:23
In this example, you can see that the wall is not meeting the floor above it properly, and instead, is cutting through it.
01:31
Once you are finished, return to the Connector interface.
01:35
Click Refresh to review if any data exchanges you loaded into Navisworks have newer versions available.
01:42
The version icon displays a blue dot to indicate that a data exchange has a newer version available.
01:48
Select the data exchange that needs to be updated.
01:52
Click More, and then select Load the latest.
01:56
The Data Exchange downloads the latest version, which again, is indicated in the Connector interface list.
02:03
Back in the Clash Detective, select Update all.
02:07
In the Results tab, the status of the clashes changes to Active.
02:12
Select a clash to review it.
02:14
Now you can see that the problem has been resolved, and the wall is correctly meeting the floor.
