When using the Upchain CAD plugin, you can check out components or assemblies so that they are locked to you for editing.
00:10
This ensures that only one user can make changes to an item at a time.
00:15
In this example, you check out a component file in Inventor, make some changes to the component, then check it back in.
00:24
Begin with a model open in Inventor and the Upchain panel open to the CAD Bill of Materials (cBOM).
00:31
Right-click the top-level assembly file and select Check out.
00:35
In the Check out files window, select the checkbox beside each item you want to check out.
00:41
In this case, select the top-level assembly and the CLA-Screw-30 component.
00:47
Click Download to download the files to your local drive.
00:51
When the item is finished downloading, click Open model.
00:55
The selected items are locked and checked out to you, as indicated by a green check out lock in the cBOM.
01:02
You can now edit the Screw-30 component.
01:05
In the Inventor Assembly Browser, right-click the Table entry in one of the Screw 30 folders, and select Change component.
01:13
On the Table tab, select a different row, such as Screw-40, and then click OK.
01:20
Repeat these steps for another one of the Screw-30 components and change it to Screw-10.
01:27
In the cBOM, click Refresh.
01:30
Notice that there are new entries for Screw-10 and Screw-40, but they are listed as ‘Not registered’.
01:36
Right-click the top-level assembly and select Check in to create these items and check in your modifications.
01:43
The CAD Check In window displays the anomalies between the cBOM and eBOM.
01:49
In this case, click the red X next to the two new screws to resolve the anomalies.
01:55
Click OK to proceed.
01:57
In the cBOM, the assembly and components are no longer displayed in green and the check out lock icon is removed.
02:05
Switch to the Upchain web interface.
02:08
Here, you can open the BOM structure and view that the two new screw components have been added correctly.
