Connect walkways to train stands in InfraWorks Mobility Simulation

Connect pedestrian walkways to the train stands in your InfraWorks Mobility Simulation model.

00:03

In InfraWorks, once you have created a scheduled train service for your multimodal simulation model,

00:09

you need to add and connect pedestrian walkways,

00:12

so that people can access the stands, or platforms, and be picked up by the train service.

00:18

Begin in an open InfraWorks Mobility Simulation model with a scheduled train service already configured.

00:25

In the project space, zoom in to the train stand along the lower railway segment in this example.

00:31

To add a walkway that people use to travel to and from this platform, right-click and select Walkway > New Walkway at Cursor.

00:40

In the New Walkway dialog, click OK.

00:44

Back in the project space, the new walkway appears and is actively selected.

00:49

Press ESC.

00:51

Select the walkway, then pick and drag the end handles to adjust its angle, length, and position, so that it can easily connect to the train stand.

01:01

To make the connection, again, select the end handle of the walkway, and then select the end of the train stand.

01:08

In the model space, right-click and select Walkway > New Connection to Stand.

01:14

InfraWorks Mobility Simulation connects the walkway to the platform

01:18

and creates streams that pedestrians in the simulation will walk down to access each of the 10 doors previously set for the train stand.

01:26

Next, on the other end of the walkway, create a pedestrian area where people will be arriving from.

01:33

Adjust the view so that the end handle is centered in the viewport a little past the cursor.

01:39

Then, right-click and select Area > New Area at Cursor.

01:44

A new pedestrian area appears, and the walkway is highlighted, confirming that it is properly embedded within the pedestrian area.

01:52

Repeat the same process to add a walkway connected to the platform along the top section of the railway.

01:59

Note that once a walkway is placed and streams added,

02:04

if you need to adjust the location, you can still select and move the end of the walkway.

02:08

All the pedestrian streams adjust to the new location.

02:12

Finally, follow the previous steps to add a second pedestrian area.

02:16

Again, ensure that the walkway appears highlighted, confirming a proper connection.

02:22

Zoom out to see the completed train network.

02:25

You are now ready to add people to your multimodal model in InfraWorks Mobility Simulation.
