Digital Transformation With Zero Downtime and Zero Productivity Loss: A Voyansi-RedBuilt Case Study

Digital Transformation With Zero Downtime and Zero Productivity Loss: A Voyansi-RedBuilt Case Study

Customer challenge

In 2018, RedBuilt found itself at a crossroads. They had weathered the great recession in good form, but the experience had raised tough questions about the kind of company that RedBuilt should become, and where they wanted to be positioned in the marketplace. RedBuilt had always prided themselves on staying ahead of the curve, especially when it came to their innovative portfolio of structural wood products. But their digital infrastructure was merely keeping pace with the rest of the industry, and the company was keen to change that. To navigate that transformation, they sought help from Autodesk Solution Provider Voyansi.

Project goals

The following priority project goals were identified for RedBuilt: 1) Increase production and efficiency rates 2) Save time 3) Automate daily tasks 4) Improve communication with partners and offer automated solutions for customers on-site

Solution

In the time they’ve worked together, Voyansi has supported a wide range of digital projects at RedBuilt, including: 1) Project development in AutoCAD and Revit 2) Creation of shop drawings 3) Revit implementation and migration 4) Model viewer development 5) Revit toolbar for automating standard workflows

Business outcome

The following significant business outcomes resulted from the solutions delivered: 1) Smooth transition to Revit arguably increased productivity. 2) Seamless integration between Revit and their ERP system through the automation tools: Some examples are the "Material Export" tool that with a single button press, takes every single schedule that Revit has made, consolidates them, and exports the combined list to the ERP, and the "Open Web Accessory" tool that automatically brings in all the cross-bridging, blockings and bearings into the model. 3) Improved collaboration with partners and customers makes it easier to take their files and integrate them with theirs. Also, the development of the "Model Viewer" tool for mobile devices where a framer can take his tablet and open up the model, scan a product on the job site, and be shown where to place that product in the context of the model.

Conclusion

Voyansi has proven to help RedBuilt by improving productivity and collaboration with customers, solve problems faster and save time. Autodesk Revit is really becoming the hub of all information for RedBuilt's processes.

Kenect Apartment Tower

UEB/Katerra needed to simulate the building’s construction in a 3D environment to get coordinated layouts of the MEP and FP systems to the Architectural and Structural design team. The challenge was construction was ongoing while the BIM Coordination process took place. The main priority was to get accurate concrete penetrations located on-site ahead of the concrete pouring schedule. An added benefit was to actually verify the engineer’s design and confirm feasibility or propose a solution.
