Improve Fort Bliss Hospital Mechanical and Plumbing Systems

Improve Fort Bliss Hospital Mechanical and Plumbing Systems

Customer challenge

The project for COBB Mechanical Contractors and Fort Bliss Hospital consisted of coordinating the mechanical and plumbing trades at the manufacturing level for a 1,130,000 m² project including the main hospital, inpatient and outpatient clinics, the research administration building, the central service plant and the car park. All buildings were highly complex and met strict requirements.

Project goals

The main objective was to coordinate the mechanical and plumbing trades and all required seismic bracing as efficiently as possible to minimize costs, time and problems in the field. In addition, it was to advise on any potential design issues and work in the early stages to receive responses from the design team prior to fabrication and installation. Complements were incorporated to improve the performance of the work.

Solution

By combining the help of AutoCAD MEP and Navisworks, we were able to detect and easily communicate the coordination issues to the other stakeholders and reach for the best solution possible.

Business outcome

We helped the Fort Bliss Hospital to rethink all their plumbing systems and to unify them in their different enclosures. This project also was an opportunity for us to work with big companies and show how professional and committed our team is. Not only for the level of complexity of the work but also for being able to overcome all the obstacles that arise in such long projects.

Conclusion

Whether upstream, during the coordination process, or downstream, during the preparation of shop drawings, Autodesk tools offer countless possibilities to prepare for success, even on the largest and longest projects. And the possibilities are endless, as it is always possible to incorporate and even create additions and improvements throughout the process.

Digital Transformation With Zero Downtime and Zero Productivity Loss: A Voyansi-RedBuilt Case Study

In 2018, RedBuilt found itself at a crossroads. They had weathered the great recession in good form, but the experience had raised tough questions about the kind of company that RedBuilt should become, and where they wanted to be positioned in the marketplace. RedBuilt had always prided themselves on staying ahead of the curve, especially when it came to their innovative portfolio of structural wood products. But their digital infrastructure was merely keeping pace with the rest of the industry, and the company was keen to change that. To navigate that transformation, they sought help from Autodesk Solution Provider Voyansi.

Kenect Apartment Tower

UEB/Katerra needed to simulate the building’s construction in a 3D environment to get coordinated layouts of the MEP and FP systems to the Architectural and Structural design team. The challenge was construction was ongoing while the BIM Coordination process took place. The main priority was to get accurate concrete penetrations located on-site ahead of the concrete pouring schedule. An added benefit was to actually verify the engineer’s design and confirm feasibility or propose a solution.
