Transition to BIM – A Strategic Investment for Engidro's Future

Transition to BIM – A Strategic Investment for Engidro's Future

Customer challenge

Engidro Engineering Solutions is a Portuguese engineering consulting company, founded in Lisbon in 1979, focused on providing engineering and architectural services. Its activity in the area of environment and life quality of the populations encompasses studies and projects regarding water treatment and supply, waste water drainage and treatment, solid waste collection and treatment. Services provided comprise all the stages inherent to the preparation of studies regarding planning and execution of works, from vision, planning and feasibility studies, to works definition, execution, inspection, monitoring and consultancy to the owner / developer. In this process, besides the development of studies, projects and management, Engidro ensures all related areas and complementary specialties. Given the nature of Engidro's projects, it became critical to adopt BIM using the tools of the Autodesk AEC Collection to integrate and coordinate all specialties.

Project goals

Our team at Luso Cuanza carried out a detailed analysis of training and implementation needs with Engidro's management. We developed a personalized course that included the main Autodesk tools for BIM projects, namely Revit, Infraworks, Navisworks and Civil 3D.

Solution

Real cooperation between Autodesk applications can be used in infrastructure projects, from conceptual design in Infraworks to execution design in Civil 3D, using Revit as a component modeler and as a tool to generate a BIM design capable of generating more information to be used during project execution and lifecycle. In order to implement a complete building information modeling (BIM) workflow in an infrastructure project using the tools available in Autodesk's AEC Collection, the proposed training program for ENGIDRO focuses on the use of: 1. InfraWorks software for conceptual design 2. AutoCAD Civil 3D software to prepare an execution project 3. AutoCAD Map 3D software to manage expropriation maps 4. Revit software for the execution of projects, constructions and piping networks inside 5. Navisworks software for construction of coordination model, planning, measurement and budget

Business outcome

Engidro's team is now better prepared and with greater mastery of the different Autodesk tools that produce more added value to their projects in order to guarantee greater profitability through coordinated projects - with fewer errors and lower production costs.

Conclusion

It is common knowledge that after the implementation of BIM with staff training in the different tools, a long journey begins that must be monitored in order to make adjustments. Engidro has established a partnership with Luso Cuanza that guarantees technical support for its projects when necessary, as well as the constant training of its team.
