You can collaborate on Revit files in the cloud by either initiating a Revit file through it, or by uploading files to it.
00:11
Initiated files are accessible directly from the Revit home screen,
00:15
while uploaded files are accessible in Autodesk Docs from the Windows File Explorer,
00:20
or in ACC Docs/BIM 360 Document Management on the web.
00:26
Initiating a Revit file through the cloud is a way to prepare the file for cloud worksharing,
00:31
allowing multiple users to collaborate on a single project file.
00:36
There are two ways to initiate a Revit file in the cloud.
00:41
The first is to save the project as a cloud model.
00:45
Begin in Revit, with your project open, and click File > Save As > Cloud Model.
00:53
In the Save as Cloud Model dialog, with your Account and Project selected,
00:57
navigate to and select the folder where you want your cloud model stored.
01:02
Click Save.
01:04
A message informs you that the model is being saved to the cloud.
01:09
The second way to initiate a Revit file through the cloud is to use the Collaborate tool.
01:15
With your project open in Revit, on the ribbon, select the Collaborate tab, then click Collaborate.
01:23
In the Collaborate dialog, you can choose to collaborate within your network or in the cloud.
01:29
Here, select In the cloud, and then click OK.
01:34
In the Save as Cloud Model dialog, select the appropriate Account, Project, and directory folder for your model, and then click Save.
01:44
Once a file is initiated through the cloud,
01:47
users with proper subscriptions and permissions will be able to open the model from the Revit home screen.
01:53
It is important to note that file initiation is only available for Revit project files.
02:00
There are also two ways to upload files to ACC Docs/BIM 360 Document Management.
02:07
The first method uses Desktop Connector.
02:12
With your file open in Revit, click File > Save As > Project.
02:18
In the Save As dialog, open the Autodesk Docs virtual drive, then open your project folder and navigate to the desired location.
02:28
Click Save.
02:30
The second method is to open your web browser to the ACC Docs/BIM 360 Document Management site.
02:38
Open your project, and in the product picker, select Docs.
02:43
Under Project Files, navigate to the folder where you want to store your Revit file.
02:49
Then, either click Upload Files to browse for your file, or drag and drop the file from a File Explorer window into the selected folder,
02:58
as shown here.
03:00
Your file will now upload.
03:03
Note that once files are uploaded, they can only be accessed via ACC Docs/BIM 360 Document Management,
03:11
or in Autodesk Docs using Windows Explorer.
03:15
They cannot be accessed directly through Revit or the Revit home screen.
03:20
To work with these files, use Desktop Connector, which allows you to link the file as a reference.
03:27
Now you know how to enable collaboration on a Revit project file,
03:31
either by initiating the file through the cloud or by uploading the file to ACC Docs/BIM 360.
