Using Desktop Connector,
00:05
you can quickly and easily confirm that a new or updated Civil 3D file is uploaded to the Autodesk Construction Cloud, or ACC.
00:14
Begin in Civil 3D, with an adjacent ACC window open to the destination project folder.
00:21
For this example, create a new file in Civil 3D.
00:26
Expand the Application menu and select New.
00:30
In the Select template dialog, select a template and then click Open.
00:36
Create a simple drawing—in this case, a circle—and then click Save.
00:42
In the Save Drawing as dialog, type a name for the drawing, such as “Sample.dwg”.
00:49
Next, ensure that the location to which you are saving the file matches the desired cloud location.
00:56
Here, you can see that the drawing is being saved to the same CAD Files folder that is open in the adjacent ACC window.
01:04
Click Save.
01:07
From the system tray, click Desktop Connector to open the Home screen,
01:11
where you can watch the progress and confirm the completion of the file upload.
01:16
In the ACC window, you see the Sample.dwg file appear in the destination folder.
01:23
Back in Civil 3D, make a few changes to your drawing.
01:28
Click Save again, and after a few seconds, you can watch as the update loads in ACC.
01:34
As further confirmation, you see that the version has changed—in this case, to V2.
01:41
It is important to note that in some cases, a drawing will fail to extract or be visible in ACC.
01:48
This does not mean that the file is not safely stored in ACC; only that it cannot be displayed.
01:55
Therefore, as you create and update your Civil 3D files,
01:60
use the Desktop Connector Home screen and monitor the file version numbers in ACC
02:05
to confirm that your changes are uploaded correctly.
