Configure parameters for InfraWorks Mobility Simulation

Configure time windows and person types parameters.

00:03

Mobility Simulation is an integrated multimodal mobility simulation engine for InfraWorks.

00:09

When creating animated simulations of pedestrian movement,

00:14

you need to configure certain parameters for the simulation to be realistic.

00:18

With two walkways and two areas defined already in InfraWorks Mobility Simulation,

00:23

you can begin defining parameters such as time windows and person types.

00:28

First, apply a time window for the simulation to populate pedestrian traffic.

00:33

From the toolbar, expand Parameters and select Terms.

00:38

The Terms dialog displays.

00:41

In the table, Simulation row, adjust the time window to be 25 minutes in length.

00:47

In this example, the start time is 08:00.

00:51

In this case, in the End time cell, enter “08:25”.

00:56

Click Apply, and then click OK.

01:00

Next, apply demand, or people.

01:03

Again, expand Parameters but this time, choose People.

01:07

This opens the Person Types dialog, which currently displays no information.

01:12

Click New (+).

01:14

In the table, a Person Type automatically generates.

01:19

You can configure the Person Type description, behavior, display color, and avatar group here.

01:27

In the table, click the Color cell and a Choose Color dialog displays.

01:33

Use the color picker to select a display color for this person type.

01:37

Click OK.

01:40

Back in the table, expand the Avatar Group cell, where you can choose Adult or Child avatars.

01:47

Here, select Adult.

01:49

Next, open the Size tab.

01:52

Again, click New (+).

01:54

Here, you can configure the size of the Person Type, including length, width, height, and mass.

02:02

You can also configure the spacing around each person type.

02:06

Open the Motion tab, and again, add a new Person Type.

02:10

Notice that you can adjust various speed parameters here.

02:14

Finally, open the Attachment tab.

02:16

Here, you can attach person types to one another as well as configure different controls and attachment angles.
