Create areas connected to walkways in InfraWorks Mobility Simulation.
Type:
Tutorial
Length:
2 min.
Transcript
00:03
Mobility Simulation is an integrated multimodal mobility simulation engine for InfraWorks.
00:10
One way to use Mobility Simulation is to create animated simulations of pedestrian movement.
00:16
In InfraWorks, Person-Trips are defined between Areas.
00:21
Each trip defines a door-to-door journey for a person, which uses one or more modes of transport.
00:27
Once you have created a model and a walkway is placed, you can add an area from which pedestrians travel.
00:34
With the model containing the walkway open in the Mobility Simulation window,
00:39
pan the view so the end handle is centered in the viewport a little past the cursor.
00:44
Then, right-click and select Area > New Area at Cursor.
00:48
The area appears with the walkway embedded within it.
00:52
It is critical that the walkway and area intersect in this manner, so that a connection is established between the two.
00:59
To confirm this connection, on your keyboard, press ESC to deselect any previously selected objects,
01:06
including the walkway and the new area.
01:09
Then, select the area.
01:12
The walkway should automatically be selected as well, confirming that the connection is established.
01:17
Deselect the objects again, and then select only the walkway.
01:21
Notice in the data display, the walkway is indicated as being “Inside Area 1”.
01:27
Again, this confirms the established connection.
01:31
Pan to the other side of the walkway and place another area.
01:36
Again, ensure the area and walkway connect.
01:40
Placing areas in InfraWorks is a simple task necessary to begin simulating mobility.
