Let's look at the customization features of Autocad S quick access toolbar.
00:07
For this video, we'll be using a blank new drawing.
00:10
Of course,
00:11
the changes we'll make here can be done at any time from your open drawings.
00:15
An important part of Autocad S menu system is the
00:18
quick access toolbar located at the top of the interface.
00:21
And just to the right of the application menu,
00:24
most people refer to it by its initials or QAT.
00:28
There are nine tools displayed by default,
00:30
but you can easily customize the menu to fit your needs,
00:34
clicking on the small arrow down icon at the end of the Q A
00:37
and just before the share icon will display a drop down menu of available tools,
00:42
the checked items are displayed,
00:44
but there is another set of commonly used tools that you can choose from.
00:48
Let's turn on one of the most common additions to the Q it, which is layer,
00:52
you'll just click on it in the list,
00:55
selecting or deselecting a tool will cause the drop down menu to collapse
00:59
and you'll see the layer tool now displayed in the Q A.
01:02
If you have too many tools turned on for the available space,
01:05
you'll be able to see the others via a flyout menu at the end.
01:10
Perhaps there's a default tool that you never use
01:12
and you would like to remove again. Click on the customization icon
01:16
and remove the check from the tool you don't want to see.
01:19
Let's deselect, save to web and mobile and it will be removed from the qat.
01:24
Customizing the qat can give you a huge advantage in your efficiency.
01:29
As our example shows if you're constantly needing access to the layer,
01:33
pull down the qat lets you access it at any time without having to change ribbon tabs.
01:39
While AUTOCAD gives you a robust set of tools. By default.
01:42
Along with the most common additions,
01:44
you can easily add any tool that you find on the ribbon as well
01:48
to place a ribbon tool onto the Q A.
01:51
Right, click on your desired tool and select add to quick access toolbar.
01:55
Let's do that with the dimension tool.
01:57
As soon as you click the add to quick access toolbar button,
02:01
the pop up dialog goes away and the dimension tool is added at the end of the Q A.
02:06
If your workflow no longer requires that you have
02:09
an added tool from the ribbon in the qat,
02:11
it's easily removed.
02:13
Let's right. Click on the tool we want to remove from the qat. In
02:16
this case, the same dimension tool we just added
02:19
and select remove from quick access toolbar
02:22
it really is just that easy to add and remove tools from the qat.
02:26
You can do it at any time and it can either be a
02:29
permanent change or just for the next 10 minutes for a specific task.
