00:03
Data cleanup prior to migrating your files into the Autodesk Construction Cloud is essential to ensure a smooth process.
00:11
Take a moment to review the recommended methods for data cleanup before you migrate a drawing to ACC.
00:19
To remove REGAPPS, perform a -PURGE.
00:22
Note that REGAPPS will return if included in a file with XREFs, so make sure to clean them all.
00:29
Simply type “-PURGE” on the command line and then “R” for REGAPPS.
00:36
Use the standard Purge feature to clean unused entities, such as layers, blocks, and line types, from your drawing.
00:46
Enter “PURGE” on the command line to access the Purge dialog.
00:51
Use the OVERKILL command and follow the prompts to clean up overlapping or duplicate drawing entities.
00:59
If you try these methods and still experience file issues, the Write block command,
01:04
or WBLOCK, transfers all drawing elements into a clean drawing.
01:08
In most cases, WBLOCK will address corrupt data issues;
01:14
however, in some rare cases, WBLOCK may not fully eliminate the corruption or may require rebuilding LandXML data.
01:24
Use the AUDIT command to evaluate the integrity of the drawing, as well as identify and fix errors.
01:31
As a best practice, run an AUDIT on your drawing daily to assess and fix errors early on, ensuring data integrity throughout your process.
01:41
Use RECOVER if, for example, you constantly crash on a specific file.
01:47
This will help repair and then open the damaged drawing.
01:51
You can also run RECOVERALL on a damaged drawing with attached XREFs.
01:57
Use the more advanced MAPCLEAN command on a file to delete duplicate data, weed polylines,
02:04
and eliminate zero-length objects, as well as other tasks.
02:09
The corresponding dialog includes many options to select and perform cleanup actions.
02:15
To save time, you can download and install the Drawing Purge add-in from the Autodesk App Store.
02:22
This add-in enables you to purge multiple drawings at the same time,
02:27
and offers numerous settings to help you manage data cleanup efficiently.
02:33
The Reference Explorer tool, part of Desktop Connector, allows you to visualize all referenced files in a dataset and their relationships.
02:41
Drag and drop a file from Windows Explorer into Reference Explorer
02:46
to precheck file references and to better understand the size and scope of a dataset.
02:52
In Reference Explorer, you can choose from three different Views, as well as multiple Graph Layout options,
02:58
to visualize your file relationships.
03:01
At the bottom of Reference Explorer, you can also view the number of files and the data set size, as well as any missing references.
03:10
Note that the files must be synced for references to display.
03:15
To sync files, in Windows Explorer, right-click the host file and select Sync or Always keep on this device.
03:24
In Civil 3D, you can repair broken shortcuts or replace drawing objects with data shortcuts.
03:32
In this image, numbers identify the locations of relevant commands on the ribbon and in the Data Shortcut Manager,
03:39
with the corresponding actions on the left.
03:43
On the ribbon, select the Manage tab to access commands to Validate Data Shortcuts, Synchronize References,
03:51
and Manage Data Shortcuts.
03:54
To replace drawing objects with data shortcut references, in the Data Shortcut Manager,
04:00
ensure that Show only broken data shortcuts is deselected.
04:05
Finally, here are some additional recommendations for reducing file load times in ACC:
04:11
A large number of annotation scales can increase file load times, both for the file itself and for any files that reference it.
04:19
When the Annotation Scale Warning appears, select Yes to reset the scale list.
04:26
Then, do a PURGE on your drawing.
04:29
Additionally, always save DWG files in the 2018 format.
04:35
The converting process will be slowed down in Civil 3D when referencing a DWG with an older format.
04:43
Now, you know the data cleanup methods and recommendations that can help to ensure a smooth migration to ACC.
