Lion Engg consultants Pvt Ltd. LECPL has meticulously completed more than 200 projects and additionally 80 projects are in development in over 20 states of the country.
This Project Detailed Project Report for Indore – Edlabad Highway, included number of major structures i.e. Tunnels, Viaducts, Major Bridges etc. During the preparation of project, Lion Engg Consultants required the walkthrough presentation to better understanding of this project. This seemed practically not feasible as this was not included in the earlier scope of work and the progress of the project timeline also would be affected because of this
Project goals
The Primary goal of the project was to prepare accurate and detailed 3D model for both design as well as presentation purposes. Using the Autodesk solutions, they claimed to achieve in both limited duration and quality output achievement.
Solution
Utilization of 3D modelling for the highway was achieved using Autodesk Civil3D and the visualisation work started on Autodesk Infraworks . For visualisation the Autodesk Civil3D model was added in Autodesk Infraworks and then all concrete components like the tunnels, foundation, pier, pier cap and detailing were added to utmost accuracy. Proper understanding of the 3D environment made it easier for the team to create all the models accurately. Autodesk Infraworks also helped to visualize the project better.
Business outcome
As visualisation was added to the workflow, better coordination and communication lead to improved technical output. The team was elated to present their work to technical and non-technical stake holders for approval. One of the major advantages of working with BIM tools was that there were lesser repetitions and revisions of work. Earlier the visualisation work was outsourced, which added to the cost. Also as the visualisation team was not inhouse and not technically involved directly into the project the outcome was not satisfactory. This step of including Autodesk Infraworks in the existing workflow gave Lion Team the option to take advantage of the inhouse transportation experts and create rich & accurate visualizations and save 30% of their time and dependency on external agencies. The stake holders and approvers also appreciated these efforts.
