Thanks to recent advances and enhancements to BIM 360 software, collaboration between software is now possible! We will navigate recent changes to Revit software, AutoCAD Plant 3D software, and Civil 3D software in BIM 360 that let us collaborate more efficiently than ever before. They are together at last! Explore workflows, successes, and pitfalls that we’ve encountered on our journey to join everyone together in the cloud!

    Patrick Flora
    Patrick is currently the Piping Engineering Department Manager at Pickering Associates, a design firm located in Parkersburg, WV. Since he started there in 2014, Patrick has implemented Plant 3D to assist industrial clients in taking full advantage of BIM. He places a strong emphasis on utilizing technology on piping and plumbing design. His skill in combining 3D scanning of existing conditions with an accurate 3D model of new designs reduces installation time and field rework. A native of Mason County, West Virginia, Patrick graduated from West Virginia University with a BS in Chemical Engineering and a MS in Engineering Management through Marshall University.

    I like to solve problems. It is what led me to a traditional architectural education and practice. It is also what drives me toward technology, using software tools and techniques to help teams work efficiently. Software has been with me throughout my education and career, sometimes lying in wait during hand-drafting courses, and other times basic like before PaperSpace was added. These days I find myself on complex teams, leveraging work products for concepts, renderings, and contract documents. There is certainly no shortage of problems to tackle and keep projects on track. Finding the best solutions that allow design to happen and deadlines to be met is what I enjoy most of what I do.

    My name is John Bentz. I graduated from Ohio University in 2011 and took Masters degree courses until beginning my employment at Pickering Associates in 2013. In 2018, I received a Masters degree from Marshall University relating to Engineering Management. Currently, I am a Civil Engineer for Pickering Associates out of our Athens, Ohio office. Aside from Civil Engineering, I also hold the role of Project Manager and Branch Manager, along with being one of a few individuals in our firm to hold the FAA Part 107 Commercial Drone Operator license.
