Description

What are the developments of smart cities, and how can they begin to change the way we deliver our buildings and infrastructure assets? This session will introduce and give an overview of the importance of smart cities. Smart-city technologies are beginning to populate the construction industry and provide solutions for government and city councils around the world. By providing a consistent methodology using governing standards, smart-city agendas can be defined. There are a variety of technology startups focused on developing solutions to enable a smart-city agenda. This session will give examples of these innovative companies and detail how they use different technologies to support how our cities are changing with increases in population.

    Rebecca De Cicco has always had a keen interest in digital technologies and how they can radically change the way we work and interact in the Built Environment. Having studied and been employed in Australia as an Architect the basis for her experience involved managing and training teams and moving into BIM Management as a career. Rebecca lived in the UK for almost 10 years and following a series of successful senior roles in varied architectural organisations, Rebecca founded her own consultancy, Digital Node, providing advice and insight to construction professionals globally on advanced digital solutions on projects as well as BIM implementation and management processes. It is with this knowledge that she can communicate, train and manage teams in a BIM environment as well as ensure her knowledge is spread throughout the industry within education and not for profit groups. Digital Node was acquired by global engineering and advisory organisation Aurecon in 2021 and continues to support major global clients in training and digital related consultancy.
