There's another way for you to share your files
00:06
and it's found right next to the shared drawing.
00:08
It's called shared views.
00:10
But the name itself causes some confusion.
00:13
When we say views in Autocad,
00:15
most of us automatically think of named views,
00:18
you know, zoom into an area and save it as a view that you can recall later.
00:22
That's not what this is. It has nothing to do with named views.
00:26
Clicking on it will display the shared views palette from here.
00:30
You can create a new shared view and see a listing of all your recent un expired views.
00:35
Your list is probably as empty as mine is.
00:37
Let's click on the blue new shared view button to get started.
00:41
When you do, you'll get the share view dialogue.
00:44
The name field will be highlighted by default.
00:47
Give it a new name if you like,
00:49
but I'll leave it as the drawing name.
00:51
This is also where you define what you'll share. You have two options
00:55
by default, current view only is selected again,
00:58
that's not the current display state of your drawing.
01:01
It's the unclipped extents of model space or the current layout.
01:05
Your other choice is to share model space and all layouts.
01:09
You can also specify to share only two D views
01:12
or to include object properties.
01:14
Let's click on that for our example and I'll
01:16
leave the default choice of the current view selected.
01:19
Now we'll click on the share button
01:21
that will display a processing confirmation box.
01:24
Click on,
01:25
proceed to start a background process to
01:27
begin the upload to a temporary cloud location
01:30
depending on your file size. This may take a little bit. So be patient
01:34
when it's complete,
01:35
you'll get a notification bubble in the lower right corner,
01:38
you'll also get an email notification sent to
01:41
the address associated with your Autodesk account.
01:44
Unlike the shared drawing tool,
01:46
which relies on the Autocad web version for viewing,
01:49
the shared views file is viewed through the Autodesk viewer in your browser.
01:53
So the people you share it with can review and post comments directly in the viewer
01:57
and they don't even need an auto desk product.
01:59
However,
01:60
if they want to be able to post comments, they'll need to create an account.
02:04
I'll click on the view in the browser link and the
02:06
cloud representation of our drawing will open in my default browser.
