Mark sleeves and hangers in AutoCAD with Point Layout

Mark existing sleeves and hangers in your AutoCAD project using the Autodesk Point Layout dialog box.

In Autodesk Point Layout, the Automated Location Points tool marks existing sleeves and hangers in your project.

With a project open, right-click anywhere in the model space, then select Point Layout > Automated Location Pts.

In the Autodesk Point Layout dialog, open the Hangers(Existing) tab.

With SLEEVE selected as the Point Type, enter a Start Number and Point Layer, if needed.

Type a custom description, or simply use the Layer Name.

For this example, “sleeve points” is entered.

To select a filter layer, first, click Modify Layer Selection.

Then, in the Select Layers dialog, type in the first few letters of the name of the layer you want.

In this case, “M-MECH-SLVE" is chosen.

Click OK.

Now, from the Selection Options group, enable Select All, then click OK.

You will receive a notification telling you how many points were created.

As you see here, points are placed at the center top of all sleeves.

Note that extruded cylinders and circles are marked.

You can also mark hangers in your project.

Open the Autodesk Point Layout dialog once more, but this time, change Point Type to PIPE.

Set point numbers, descriptions, and layers.

Enable Select All, and then click OK.

Again, you will see a notification that point placement is complete.

Use the ViewCube to orbit the model, then zoom to find a hanger.
