When working with AutoCAD Point Layout,

you can use the Building Control Points tool to add control points to grid intersections or specific layers of your project.

First, you must isolate your grid.

With a project open, select a grid intersection.

Then right-click in the model space, and click Select Similar to select all other intersections.

Right-click again, and select Isolate Objects > Isolate Objects.

In this example, you can now see only a wireframe of the grid intersections.

Right-click in the model space once more, and select Point Layout > Bldg Control Pts.

In the Building Control Points dialog, you can enter additional information on a control point,

including a point number, prefix, and custom description.

You can also assign points to layers and click Place Point

or Place Points to manually drop single or multiple points in the model space with your cursor.

Click Place XYZ to select a coordinate system and enter the respective XYZ value, to drop a point based on coordinates.
