Use the Layer Properties Manager to display model and paper space layers

Use the Layers Property Manager to display viewport layers.

00:03

This video will be focusing on layers

00:06

and their properties within layout view ports.

00:08

Switch to the layout titled first floor plan.

00:12

You should see the sheet pan to the right side a bit.

00:15

Now you need to open the layer properties manager palette

00:18

for this exercise,

00:19

resize it similar to what I have pull the right side out to display all of the columns.

00:25

If they are not all already,

00:26

please maximize all of the columns by right clicking

00:29

on a column header and choosing maximize all columns.

00:33

Now that the layout view and the palette are displayed as we want,

00:36

you may notice more information is displayed than

00:39

what you're used to in model space.

00:41

Let's click on the model space tab with the pallet still open,

00:44

you should see fewer columns in this tab.

00:47

Now go back to the first floor plan layout tab

00:50

and you should note that when in a layout,

00:52

you'll see five new columns each beginning with VP, which stands for Viewport.

00:58

It's worth noting here that this difference in

01:00

columns only appears to the model space tab.

01:03

You'll see the extra columns. If you enter model space from a layout view,

01:07

the reason they're different is because each

01:09

Viewport has its own layer property settings

01:12

which are independent of each other and of model space freeze color line type,

01:17

line weight and transparency.

01:19

All have a corresponding viewport specific setting.

01:23

These columns work just like any others

01:25

including sorting by clicking on a header,

01:28

click on the name, header to return the list to sort descending by name.
