I just want to run in,
00:05
run through a situation that user may encounter
00:08
with this pending sync where it looks like
00:10
something stuck,
00:11
maybe not uploading AC C Docs or the cloud from from desktop connector.
00:15
And uh I've created this situation by adding
00:18
number of files and folders to my workspace. While desktop connector is not running
00:24
desktop desktop connector relies on events from
00:26
the operating system to tell us when
00:28
there are changes in the workspace. And if desktop connector is not running,
00:31
that is a way that we could get into
00:33
of the situation with desktop connector not running,
00:36
it has no ability to
00:38
get the events that changes to the worst space have happened.
00:41
And we will miss the fact that maybe new entities have been created or updated,
00:46
fail to recognize and upload them.
00:47
So here
00:48
uh we can see that I have this folder and it is in the cloud, it's marked as pending sync
00:54
uh and it has some pending sync entities inside of it.
00:58
So we have a couple of files folder.
01:00
I've be, I've named the ones that I added while desktop connector was not running
01:04
bad
01:06
to identify them.
01:07
Uh if we go into the folder and, and uh AC C docs,
01:10
we can see what we have sub folder one and two
01:14
subfolder one and two.
01:16
But we do not have anything with a bad prefix, so bad folder, bad one but
01:20
two dot txt.
01:22
And we want to get these uploaded into the cloud desktop connector again,
01:25
is not recognizing them.
01:26
Uh They may have been in the state for quite a while and they're just
01:30
being recognized and uploaded. So we want to force desktop connector
01:34
and upload them.
01:35
One of the things to to realize about these workarounds
01:39
is that if we go in a bad folder,
01:41
bad folder is not in the cloud yet.
01:43
So if I go here
01:44
and I add a new folder,
01:47
that folder will not be recognized because it's in an entity
01:51
which also it's in a folder which also is not recognized.
01:55
The hub connector isn't picking that up, it isn't
01:57
uploading will be in the same state.
01:60
So we really have to find the location
02:03
where
02:05
we can create a new folder or we can verify
02:09
that this folder
02:10
is in the cloud and we know that. So folder here
02:13
is in the cloud, it has a contents, a sub folder
02:16
and then a couple other uh files and folders. But this folder matches this folder.
02:21
It is in the cloud.
02:22
We can also verify that into the sub connector workspace by creating a
02:25
new folder and seeing if that new folder gets added to the cloud,
02:29
if it gets recognized and added to the cloud.
02:32
So it takes a second and it did,
02:34
we can check the status screens and the folder was just created.
02:37
Um And now we can see it in the cloud also.
02:40
So that tells us that this parent folder is a good folder for this,
02:44
this candidate created this new folder.
02:46
And there are a couple of ways to
02:48
get desktop connector to kind of recognize that there's uh something
02:52
in the workspace, maybe that wasn't recognized before.
02:55
And one of the simplest ways
02:57
if you have maybe one file, this is file only
03:00
is that we can make an edit to the file. So here I made an edit to the file.
03:04
I haven't really changed the content. So I made an edit and undid it.
03:07
So no pa thinks I that a
03:09
save is needed. I'm gonna go ahead and save
03:11
and then exit and we'll see if desktop connector picks up
03:15
this previously unrecognized file that's in the state and uploads it.
03:19
So here we can see there's some activity.
03:21
So yes, so bad two dot txt
03:23
was now recognized and uploaded and you can see it
03:27
made its way into the cloud. So that's, that's one way if you have a single file,
03:31
you can do a Dave on that file or an edit in the save.
03:34
Some applications are smart enough to know that there
03:36
was no edit and won't actually do a save.
03:38
You can do an edit,
03:39
at least in a save that will cause desktop connector to recognize that file.
03:44
But only if the parent folder is already recognized by desktop connector.
03:49
So if we were to go in the bad folder
03:51
and again, do that same thing I can edit
03:54
and save it,
03:55
it will not pick this up because it doesn't know about bad fold.
03:58
So if you have a hierarchy of things, maybe that you dragged in
04:02
and didn't get recognized, you have to start at the level where you know
04:06
that that folder, your folder again
04:09
is in the cloud.
04:10
And one of the things we can do
04:12
is this new folder created this new folder, we can actually use that now.
04:16
So what I'm gonna do is I'm going to
04:19
go ahead and I'm gonna select
04:20
all the other entities. Uh
04:23
It's not harmful to do this if you have entities which are
04:26
recognized or you can just select the ones that aren't recognized,
04:30
they have the pending sync and I'm gonna
04:32
move them into
04:35
new folder
04:37
will be picked up by desktop connector and
04:39
some of those entities may be recognized now.
04:41
So we can see bad one
04:43
when file has been picked up the folder, the bad folder has been picked up
04:47
and
04:50
a sub folder has been picked up. So it's moving those
04:53
or creating them if they weren't previously recognized.
04:56
So now it's picking up some other
04:58
files,
04:59
bad one and bad two
05:01
and some other things.
05:02
So desktop connector noticed it and it's now uploading all those
05:05
pending sync ones that were previously missed for whatever reason.
05:09
So now we can go into new folder
05:10
and we can see our contents here.
05:13
We have bad folder,
05:14
had two bad files in it that were recognized and the whole hierarchy, right?
05:17
So all those files got recognized and uploaded at this point,
05:20
we have sub folder which still has a pending sync icon, two files here,
05:23
maybe that didn't get recognized.
05:25
We know this isn't where we want these. So now we can go ahead and move them back.
05:29
I'm going to select them, hit control X,
05:32
go to the original folder where they resided and hit control V to do a cut and paste.
05:37
You can also drag from uh explorer window to explorer window,
05:40
but either way should work as long as we're moving those files and folders.
05:45
And that move has to be within, within the desktop connector workspace.
05:49
So you can't move it out to attempt directory that's
05:51
not in the workspace and then move it back in
05:54
that will not have the same results.
05:56
It's now moved all the appropriate entities around where we think they should be.
06:00
But we still have a couple of entities here which maybe aren't in the cloud.
06:04
So we're in the sub folder now.
06:06
So let's go ahead and take a look at the sub folder.
06:08
So the sub folder has not recognized
06:10
bad one and bad two.
06:12
So we can go ahead and create the new folder with the temp folder.
06:17
I like to name things explicitly. So I know I need to clean them up later. OK?
06:20
So that created and it's in the cloud.
06:22
And again, we're gonna just gonna take the entities
06:25
which are marked with as pending sync,
06:28
we're gonna move them into that temporary folder. OK?
06:30
So it picked up the two files, bad one and bad two and it picked up the leaf folder.
06:35
OK? So we can go in here. But uh this is a little bit of an iterative process.
06:40
If you have a large fold or a deep folder hierarchy,
06:43
you can keep these operations where you create a new folder,
06:45
move the entity or the folder into that new folder
06:50
and desktop connector will notice it and its direct contents at least.
