Utilize the home screen to access menu options, switch connectors, and monitor activities.

Autodesk Desktop Connector is an application that runs on your desktop

and creates a virtual drive that serves as a bridge between the local file system and data in the Autodesk cloud.

This data is stored in 1 of 3 connected drives:

Autodesk Docs, Autodesk Drive, and Autodesk Fusion.

You can access menu options, switch connectors,

and monitor your file and folder activities from the Desktop Connector home screen.

To open the home screen, in the system tray, click the Desktop Connector icon.

Now, click the home screen header to expand a drop-down that includes the 3 connectors.

For this example, select each connector to view and switch among the different home screens.

Next, right-click the Desktop Connector tray icon to access the Help menu.

From this menu, you have several options:

Upload Files and References: Opens a corresponding dialog,

where you can upload project data source files, external references,

and related data to the Autodesk cloud.

Select Projects:

Opens the Select Projects dialog,

where you can choose projects from the Autodesk cloud to add to your local drive.

The other main use of the Desktop Connector home screen

is to monitor the progress of data uploads and resolve any errors.

Open two separate File Explorer windows—one with the desktop files that you want to upload,

and another open to the destination folder in your project hub,

such as Project Files > 01-Data.

In the home screen, ensure that the connector you want to use is selected—in this case, Autodesk Docs.

In the first Explorer window, select the files you want to upload,

including files of multiple formats.

Right-click the selection and click Copy.

Then, inside the 01-Data folder window, right-click and choose Paste.

The file details appear, and in the Status column,

you can see that the files are syncing with the cloud.

From the home screen, you can check the progress of the upload,

and if an operation fails, you see an error message, enabling easy resolution.
