Type:
Tutorial
Length:
2 min.
Transcript
00:03
With Autodesk Point Layout, you can use the Import Nested Family tool to match a field point to a corresponding Revit family.
00:12
For example, a pier point at the top of a pier could be placed within a pier family.
00:19
When importing an as-built file, you can import several hundred families at once.
00:24
Begin by loading the family into your open Revit project.
00:28
On the ribbon, Insert tab, Load from Library panel, click Load Family.
00:36
In the Load Family dialog, browse to and select the desired family.
00:43
In this example, a pier family that has one point at the top is loaded.
00:49
For this import, you can only use one family at a time, with one point located in the family.
00:57
Next, import your field file.
01:01
From the ribbon, Autodesk Point Layout tab, click Import.
01:07
In the Import Location Points from File dialog, click Select File to Import,
01:13
browse to and select your field file—in this case, Existing Piers.csv, and then click Open.
01:22
Back in the Import Location Points dialog, review the points displayed, and then click OK.
01:30
In the APL dialog, select Nested Family.
01:36
Select the category for the points—here, Structural Foundations.
01:43
Finally, select the family to use for import.
01:48
Click OK to close the Import Completed message.
01:53
This process locates and associates piers to those points.
01:58
Zooming in, you see the field point at the top center of each pier, which is matched with the point within the family.
02:07
From the 3D View, you see that this also locates these in elevation changes as well.
02:14
Now you can use the Import Nested Family tool within Point Layout to match field points to Revit families.
