Understanding styles and style rules in InfraWorks

Edit feature styles  and access style rules that control the behavior of your InfraWorks conceptual infrastructure model.

Styles control the display of data in your model.

When data is imported, the application assigns one style to all features from that data source.

You can easily adjust styles to create a realistic, visually impactful representation of your design.

Create, edit, and manage styles in the Style Palette.

To access the Style Palette, click Manage > Content, then select Style Palette.

The Style Palette contains categories represented by the tabs.

A category may also contain subcategories.

For example, select the Road tab.

In this case, select the Street subcategory.

The styles you can apply to the streets in your model display in the preview.

To adjust the style of a feature, select that feature within the canvas.

To adjust multiple objects of the same type, simply click and hold the Ctrl Key while you select the objects.

Now, the Stack appears, showing you the currently applied style for the selected feature.

In the Preview of the Style Palette, select the new style you want to apply and drag it to the feature you want to apply it to.

The style immediately updates.

In addition to editing styles, you can also manage and create style rules for your model.

Style rules enable you to define expressions that determine the appearance of specific features based on data.

To view or create style rules use the Style Rules Panel.

Select the Style Rules Panel.

Click the tab for the desired class of features you want to style.

For example, click the Buildings tab.

Here, you can see existing rules or create a new rule to apply a style to all buildings that meet specific criteria.

For example, you might want to apply a specific style to all buildings that are above a certain height.
