Autodesk Desktop Connector creates a virtual drive that serves as a bridge between your local file system and data in the Autodesk cloud.
00:14
There are three ways to use Desktop Connector to upload files and folders from your local machine to the Autodesk cloud.
00:23
The first way to upload files or folders to the cloud is to do it from Autodesk Construction Cloud.
00:30
Select the Projects tab, and open the folder to which the files are being uploaded, such as a drawings folder.
00:39
Then, click Upload files.
00:42
In the Upload files dialog, click From your computer to specify your desktop as the file source.
00:50
Select the files you want to upload, such as a couple of drawing files, and then click Open.
00:58
The Upload files dialog reappears, reporting progress.
01:02
Once the upload is successful, click Done.
01:06
A highlighted Upload notification appears, to inform you that the files are now in the cloud.
01:13
Now, both drawing files are ready to access in the file list.
01:18
The second method for uploading project data is to use File Explorer from your desktop.
01:25
Returning to the project folder in Autodesk Construction Cloud, you see that the project folder is currently empty again.
01:34
In a File Explorer window, navigate to the location of the files you want to upload on your local drive.
01:41
Then, in a second File Explorer window, under the project hub, in the Project Files folder,
01:49
double-click the destination, such as the 02-Dwgs drawings folder.
01:57
From the first Explorer window, select the files you want to upload, such as drawing files,
02:04
then drag and drop them into the hub folder in the second window.
02:09
A “Move to” message appears, which you can ignore in this case.
02:14
The Desktop Connector home screen indicates the files are being uploaded to the cloud.
02:21
Once complete, you now see the files listed in the hub folder in File Explorer,
02:27
with check marks confirming that each was uploaded successfully.
02:32
Now, if you return to Autodesk Construction Cloud and open 02-Dwgs, you see the uploaded files.
02:42
The last way to upload project data is also from your desktop,
02:47
but using the Upload References and Files tool from the Desktop Connector home screen.
02:54
This tool allows you to view any references and related data before you upload the files.
02:60
Right-click the Desktop Connector tray icon and select Upload Files and References.
03:07
This opens the Upload Files and References dialog.
03:11
To set the Local data location, click Browse.
03:16
In the Browse For Folder dialog, navigate to the location of the files you want to upload on your local drive.
03:24
Select the desired folders and files, such as drawing files, and then click Open.
03:31
The Upload Files and References Tool dialog reappears with a list of the files and folders selected,
03:38
as well as any reference files and related data.
03:42
Now, next to Cloud destination, click Browse.
03:48
In the Browse For Folder dialog, expand Autodesk Docs, and then navigate to the project destination folder, such as 02-Dwgs.
04:01
Click OK, then select Upload.
04:05
As Desktop Connector uploads the files to the Autodesk cloud, the home screen reports the progress.
04:13

04:19
and in this case, the images and xref folders, to confirm that the drawings and related files are all now available in the cloud.
04:30
