Change your Desktop Connector workspace location

Change the workspace from the default location to a new location on your local drive.

The Desktop Connector workspace refers to the physical location where your projects are stored

and then synced to the cloud in a connector, such as Autodesk Docs.

You can easily change the location of this workspace from the default to a location of your choosing.

First, open a File Explorer window, where your connector appears as a local system drive.

To find the exact location of your workspace, select a folder within the connector,

then click in the address bar to the right of the folder names.

This displays the full path.

Here, you can see the default location for Autodesk Docs.

Close File Explorer.

To change your workspace location,

in the tray, right-click Desktop Connector, expand Help, and click Change Workspace.

A warning shows that you are unable to change your workspace,

because you must remove projects. Click OK.

To resolve this, right-click Desktop Connector and click Select Projects.

In the Select Projects dialog, My Selections tab,

deselect any projects shown to clear out your current workspace.

Click Save.

The Connect Projects dialog confirms that your projects are getting ready.

Once complete, the dialog automatically closes.

To set a new location for the workspace,

open Desktop Connector, expand Help, and select Change Workspace again.

In the Change Workspace dialog, click Yes.

In the Select Folder dialog,

navigate to and select a new folder to relocate your workspace here,

and then click Select Folder.

Desktop Connector confirms that the Workspace location has changed but is not in use.

Next, restart Desktop Connector.

When you restart, Desktop Connector confirms that you are ready to update your workspace.

In the Select Projects dialog,

expand the options and select projects to add to your workspace, then click Save.

The Connect Projects dialog shows that the software is preparing your projects.

Now, open File Explorer and view the workspace on your local drive to see that
