As a young construction industry professional standing on the first step of the winding staircase of success, do you feel overwhelmed? As a project manager, do you wonder how to bring together a culturally diverse team and create a success story? As a student, have you ever wondered how to navigate your academic journey and then transition into being a young professional in the United States? A panel of young, international construction professionals will share their stories and provide insights into the challenges they faced while transitioning from academics to the ground reality of job sites, while also dealing with language barriers, cultural differences, and work permit issues. - Siddhant MehtaSiddhant Mehta is a construction professional with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from India, and a Master's in Construction Management Technology from Purdue University, USA. Based in Atlanta, United States, he is currently working as a Project Engineer with Skanska USA on a multi-million dollar hotel construction. As a Project Engineer, he manages and assists in planning, in-field execution, cost management, BIM coordination, and document control. Siddhant is a LEED Green Associate and is responsible for achieving and managing the LEED credits for his project. He is also currently serving as a Chair Member for ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers) Young Professionals - Georgia Chapter, and is also a Member of Diversity and Inclusion Council for Skanska. Siddhant dedicates his free time providing guidance to students looking to do study abroad, and get in the construction industry by keeping webinars, and helping on LinkedIn. After my Masters in Construction Management from Purdue University, I joined DPR Construction for its legendary VDC contribution to the industry. Currently on a mega project at Phoenix. My professional life revolves around a passion on newest technology and such in VDC. From model coordination, to laser scanning and being a professional drone pilot, I have done it all!
