We've seen how to access and create properties. But what do you do with them?
00:07
One of the most powerful and common applications is
00:10
to link them to your title block via fields.
00:13
I've left a few blank spots in the title block to demonstrate this.
00:17
I'll double click on the attribute showing as hashtags in the file number box.
00:21
This will display the enhanced attribute editor.
00:24
Make sure the hashtags are in the value box and highlighted.
00:28
Then right click on top of it to bring up the pop up menu,
00:32
click on insert field to bring up its dialogue.
00:35
You want to make sure that the category is set to sheet set
00:38
which will bring up its available field names.
00:41
You have to read these carefully as most
00:43
start with current sheet or current sheet set,
00:46
I set the built in sheet set project number earlier.
00:49
So I'll choose current sheet set project number
00:53
and its value will appear in the upper right value box.
00:56
Notice for each field, there is a format box.
00:59
Since this is a number, I'll leave that alone,
01:02
click OK to exit the field dialogue and again to exit the attribute editor,
01:07
you should now see the file number box of the
01:09
title block populated with the value of the property.
01:12
Let's do that again.
01:14
But this time we're going to access one of our custom properties.
01:17
Double click on the double X in the sheet number box
01:20
in the editor. Make sure it is in the value box and highlighted,
01:24
right, click again on it and choose insert field
01:27
again. Make sure sheet set is your category
01:31
within each grouping of either sheet or sheet set fields.
01:34
Are your two custom entries.
01:36
I'll start with current sheet custom.
01:39
When I select it, you'll see that a new pull down box will appear under the format box.
01:44
This is where all of your custom sheet properties will be displayed
01:47
toward the middle is the current sheet set custom field.
01:50
It works the same way.
01:52
That's what we're after. So select the total sheets property we created.
01:56
You'll see its value of 17 show up in the value box.
02:00
Click ok, to exit and ok. Again, to exit, the editor,
02:04
the title block should now read sheet 01 of 17.
